MOYA.collective

Moya Collective is a transcultural and intergenerational musical project founded by german singer, composer and arranger Laura Lenhardt. It was her life's journey and growth as a musician and human being that created this collective – an ode to open-mindedness, multicultural exchange and friendship beyond the higher, faster and further of nowadays jazz environment.

Laura's poetic compositional language melts 21st century jazz, cinematic chamber-pop, brazilian music and spoken word into an orchestral context and finds its outcome in the unique sonority of the ensemble - warm and airy colours as a delicate counterpoint to vibrant grooves and stirring energy. The vibrant rhythm section features brazilian percussionist Tito Araújo, who introduces brazilian textures that melt into the sophisticated language of Daniel Klein's jazz drumming. Carl Wittig on double bass, pianist Thilo Seevers and Emiliano Sampaio on guitar and trombone, excellent instrumentalists as well as composers, contribute their talent of playing between improvisation and compositional precison. The warm sound of Franziska Ludwig's cello playing builds an ark to the woodwind section, featuring Line Daenen on traverse and Konstantinos Margaris on bass flute. The warm soprano saxophone sound of Mathieu Robert links to Lukas Diller on clarinet and alto saxophone and Damian Dalla Torre featured on bass clarinet and tenor saxophone.
This unique instrumentation opens the gate to a colourful sound pallette - a neo-impressionistic timbre that carries Laura's sung poetry.
